Time to make up for missing posts this week. We had a wicked wind storm come through this week and do a number on my neighborhood. By pure luck we did not end up with a tree on our house, just lots of debris and down internet for a few days. Not all of our neighbors were so lucky. One just had the garage taken out by a tree, several with some mild roof damage, and one; this beautiful old oak came down on it. No one was hurt but the boys and I are going to be putting together a basket for them today. Make them some banana bread and get them a gift certificate to help.
All is settling down, and I wanted to go ahead an post the button give-away for today. Last week during lunch I felt the familiar pull of going to the flea market. With only an hour for lunch I was sure I wanted to go to this one spot, but then said I think I need to go to this other. When I did I found out why I was pulled there. Not only did I find a fantastic chicken pot holder (adorably homespun chic), and a set of lovely green buttons for the give-away, but an amazing 4-H banner with the most delicate stitch work.
Since I began working for 4-H a few months ago I am impressed with the detail and loving work environment to this organization. Maybe it has something to do with being commited to working with youth via their hearts, hands, health, and head. Working in the non-profit side with the foundation has taught me about the giving spirit of people.
Not sure yet what will happen to the banner, maybe it will hang in my office or might need to research if the club is still active. Either way, it is a symbol of so many things I hold valuable- creating beauty with your heart, your head, your hands. Always good for your health.
So here is some great old vintage green buttons for this week. I am quite fond of them and could see them on a handknit hat for sure!
Good luck, just leave a comment between now and Monday at midnight. Bonus entry points for:
