Have to admit I was a little confused last night with the Olympics- I was sure in my mind that the opening ceremony was last night. I baked up one of our family traditional Russian recipes, got some bubbly juice and set up the family room for the opening ceremony. Instead it was some actual coverage of the Olympics and the opening ceremony is tonight- huh? I felt a little let down.
I had even joined up with the Ravellenic Games and got my yarn all set out for the cast-on during the ceremony. I will be competing in the Short Track Shawl competititon. My first games- how fun! The yarn is aptly named Golden (Lionbrand Homespun)- so this is my go for gold shawl. With 2 long term projects on the needles it is time for a quick knit.
Low and behold once we figured out what was happening Silas looked at me with sad eyes and wondered if we should wait on the bubbly juice. Heck no- we ate our Bierocks, drank our bubbly juice and watched snowboarding, ice skating, and moguls. Tonight- that yarn is still ready for the cast- on, my shawl pattern picked out and it will be fish and chips for dinner. Not as special as my Russian family food but it will do!
Enjoy- any other Ravthletes out there?
