The vintage gods heard my request last week! As you have seen from previous posts, checkers was a game of choice this winter. Our checkers board is a fun cloth that I love but to my lament it came with plastic checkers pieces. I contemplated making some wood pieces, but time had not presented itself for that project. On a whim Jasper and I headed to the flea market last week when we had a couple hours together and there they were on a dusty shelf tucked in the back, a complete set of vintage wood checkers pieces- reasonably priced at $1.50 with the original tag on the bottom, they were a whopping .25 cents in 1960- how funny!
So checkers the monster was made as a bid to our winter checkers playing will give way to outside romping and exploring after school! This is the view from the back half of our deck and the woods just begging to be green! It does not stop the boys for some fun exploration!
