Goodbye February! We are prepping and planning today for March- bring it on! I wanted to quickly post the winner for the March issue of Herbal Roots! Jennipher- congrats I will e-mail you your copy today.

I am looking forward to sharing with you about the first focused gathering at The Womb Room called "In the Tent". It is gatherings with a very specific topic that will be happening this year in conjunction with the other wonderful tribe events that we are doing.
But before I do that I am continuing to hold some space for a dear dear friend of my who experienced a loss this week. This is a woman that I am just so grateful for. She helped me through a challenging time and now my heart just breaks for her. So I am continuing to hold that space for her.
My heart breaks for her and I light a candle in her honor. I will be back in a couple days . . .
This past weekend Silas had fun paging through the bird books while I sketched out a woodpecker to make- he cracked me up with his sweet "this one mama- it has a red head is it a woodpecker?" So we had just a little bird learning on the bench as we look forward to hearing this fine feathered friends peeking away at the trees!

Yesterday I had the divine pleasure of spending the afternoon and evening with some amazing women. I was with a tribe of maidens, mothers, and a wise wise crone sharing her stories of the power of women. I say crone in a most honored place. I have had the pleasure of knowing MorningStar for a few years now and am so honored to be included in her most recent book in both story and photo- it is so humbling.
I have shared so much with her and my amazing birth tribe preparing for and accomplishing my powerful VBAC, now almost 5 years ago in April with my Silas. It is days like this that reminds how lucky I am to be in the presence of such a tribe of women that I am fortunate enough to call friends!
While we were gathered in circle I worked on another in the 3-Sisters series I have done since the fall. I was inspired to bring in elements of the moon and nature to reflect this trio. I like how the maiden and crone shelter either side of the mother because I find that often I need to remember the innocence of my maidenhood and listen to the stories of the crones to balance out my role as mother.

We have noticed it happening the past couple mornings- the cardinals are starting to tweet and chatter-oh yah spring come on, we are ready!

someone knew how much we adore monsters when they made the new book My Beastly book of Monsters- 150 Ways to Doodle, Scribble, color, and draw- just what we need to help us get through the last few weeks of winter where we really get stir crazy for spring and all become a little bit monsterous!
If there is a monster lover in your house I recommend this one! We just learned also that our Wild Tree Monsters have a distant cousin named Spot- his cousins love to share a bit of the nature world but he just can't get enough birthday love!
I made this fella as part of my birthday candle series. Instead of the hole going all the way through to hold some nature, the hold is designed to hold a birthday candle. At the suggestion of Jasper I made his biggest spot on his belly with chalkboard paint so you can adjust to your little monster's age or even add a little message. Be on the watch for some new fun monsters coming to the shop this spring!
I could not forget to make the boys some pancakes this afternoon for a snack after school. Shrove Tuesday brought us some cakes, one of our favorite pancake stories with a buddy, and then daddy's famous yummy Mardi Gras food!
I did cheat a little and break out the camping pancake mix instead of scratch but added some honey and they were tasty we did not even need syrup and those pancakes ran right into the mouths of those eager boys!

A little look at the second attempt I have done with embroidery. My sweet friend Mikayla taught me how and Jasper and I wanted to make his grandpa something special for his b-day. We made him a placemat of honor with something he loves to do- fish! I really enjoy Jasper's perspective on composition. This is the picture he first drew on paper.

last night we were having fun taking pictures after dinner, and then I hopped on over to flickr after the boys went to bed and found some fun Self Portrait flagging going on- after you see that you are tagged and see that person's SP- they tag you and you take a self portrait within 5 minutes. I keep getting blurry shots that hubby said looked too ghost like so I went with this one that I did in front of one of my favorite old thrifted mirrors.
