Seems like this time of year recipes are shared for all the fantastic food out there. I was realizing today that next month will be the three year anniversary of opening The Womb Room- the mama activism center that I run. Recipes are often shared as we have our different gatherings there, like the amazing hummus dip, mead, or chocolate chip cookies! But beyond food, there is a very simple recipe that happens there that you can do also. Tonight is the monthly Crafty Mama's gathering and the recipe is simple: mix friends and some crafts and you have a recipe of DIY experience to last a lifetime.
I am fortunate to have a place to set up to do this, but you know really any group could do this. Take turns at each others houses, check your public library for meeting rooms, check your local yarn shop for space, check your community birth center also for meeting space. Have a fundraiser to get materials to build a mini- crafty cabin- wouldn't that be fun!
This is a great book to help get you started if you wanting to start a local crafty group. Now is the perfect time of year, while you are finishing up all those handmade goodies for Christmas! For my local mamas I will see you tonight with chocolate cookies in tow! Also the DVD is now available to purchase of Handmade Nation. I am hoping to order a copy to play at The Womb Room. I needed that reminder as I am overwhelmed by the commercially made stuff out there, everywhere this time of year- ughhh!
