we had a great time last night exploring our dragon energies, fire, fears, and spirit! As I mentioned earlier we love integrating many different traditions into our own family traditions. Since this was our first year exploring Michaelmas we decided to integrate it as part of our seasonal celebration of fall. We made some dragon bread, talked about any fears we have or anything we want to work on during the upcoming dark months. I had found this great dragon poem by Jess C Scott and put that on a one of my favorite dragon wet on wet painting that Jasper had done and I used part of a birthday ring to highlight that poem by candlelight.
For us it was not as much about slaying dragons, but more exploring dragon energy. Both of the boys had their own wood dragon mama made dragon candle holders that they blew out with a dragon roar! Of course with my boys they had a fun time elaborating on what part of the "dragon" in the bread that they were eating!
We ended our night with a small fire and listening to the song "Dragonfire" from the Dogtrain CD (I highly recommend) I have always loved the beauty of embracing the pure dragon fire that comes out in that song- by the end of the night we had dubbed the celebration "dragonmas" gave our load roar of goodbye to summer!
Here are a couple of my favorite dragon reads for you to enjoy that also work in well with the St. George theme if you are traditionally celebrating Michaelmas- enjoy!
