But I had a good cry and then woke with so much happiness at having him here and celebrating his birthday! He was in such an amazing mood and everyone was so relaxed and we had a wonderful time! He got lots of fun goodies including his favorite spiderman and balls! He loved his cake and the only real hitch was that the one and only bowling alley in town was having a tournament so we could not bowl and opted to go see a movie which cracked him up.
I had a wonderful time just watching in wonder at how much he has changed and continually learning from him and why he chose me to be his mama.
This year for his present I wanted to do something really special. Jasper, Jody and I all got together and wrote him his own story. We then put a little book together with a wood front and back $2- drilled holes and bound together with paper rings $1, added small pieces of watercolor paper $3, and then hand wrote the story on onside while Jasper did all of the illustrations- priceless! I then made the characters from the story from wood, made a playmat from fabric and put the whole thing together in Silas' story sack. Now granted it could not compete with spidey yesterday, but this morning after breakfast when we all sat on the floor, Jasper read the story to him and I acted out the story with the wood characters I knew it was special for him. That is what those late nights sawing, sanding, planning is all about!
Here's to the simplicity of celebrating your child's birth! There are some more pictures here- have a wonderful rest of your weekend!
