Both a mixture of slight procrastination and the desire to make our traditions work with our family schedule and not always the calendar had the boys checking their shoes this morning to see if old King Laurin paid a visit. Lucky that old Goblin King is full of magic, he happened to know that the boys would have friends this morning so he filled up some shoes for them too- wink wink!
I err umm, I mean King Laurin likes to fill the shoes with some oranges, comfits (little hard christmas candys) gold coins (harder to get at the banks these days grumble grumble) US handmade candycanes, and usually a small toy.
These vintage all metal matchbox cars were a complete find this summer while at my favorite gettin antique place. Love these, USA made- they are super sweet and were perfect little fun treat. My boys still love belly on the floor rolling around car time.
Our traditional St. Nicholas days is celebrated with a twist inspired by the book The Remarkable Christmas of the Cobblers Sons. It honors our shoemaking heritage! So sad that it is now out of print, but you might be able to find some used copies if you are keen on this story.
Hoping your December holiday traditions are starting off magical!
